Lewiston-Auburn Senior College will partner with the Auburn Public Library again this year to present uplifting films from across the continents.  Expect cinematic excellence, breathtaking scenery, and insights into human nature across cultures, so different yet so universal.

Each week on Tuesday, February 4 through March 11, we will show a film in person at APL, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

A half-hour discussion will follow each movie and will be facilitated by Mary Jane Beardsley and Judy Hierstein. Mary Jane and Judy have always liked to travel, but when you can't get there in person, visiting through film is the next best thing!

If you are interested in participating in the discussion portion, but would like to watch the movie on your own, all movies can be found on Kanopy, available with a library card from either the Lewiston or Auburn Public Library.  If you do not have a library card and are from Auburn, Lewiston, or Minot, you are eligible for a free library card.  Please contact the Lending Desk at 207-333-6640, ext. 3.

Our movie for today will be The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry (run time 1:49):  "Harold is an ordinary man who has passed through life, living on the side lines, until he goes to post a letter one day and keeps walking. A touching and inspirational story based on the novel by Rachel Joyce. " (from Kanopy.com)

For other ways to watch this movie, visit imdb.com.

The in-person viewing of the films will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room.  If joining the discussion via Zoom, the link will be emailed to you on the day of the first screening, February 4.  (If you are planning to join more than one movie discussion, the link will be the same for all 6 movies.)  The discussion for this film will start at approximately 2:50 p.m.

Registration is required and can be done by visiting the Lewiston Auburn Senior College website. You do not need to be a member of LASC to participate in this series.
