Auburn library cards are free to all staff members. Staff members are encouraged to use their borrowing privileges as a benefit of employment and to become informed and knowledgeable about the Library’s collections. The staff is expected to abide by the same borrowing privileges and loan periods as the public. With permission of the Lending Services Manager, exceptions to this may be made if circumstances warrant.
Library Cards
To borrow library materials, a staff member must have a library card.
Library cards are issued in the Lending Services Department by a member of the Lending Services staff.
Circulation of Materials
All library materials must be checked out in the library circulation system.
Staff members may check out material without having their card present.
Staff members are expected to abide by the same borrowing privileges and loan periods as the public, except in cases where circumstances warrant. When exceptions are made, staff members are expected to be judicious and to keep in mind that the goal of the Library is to make materials readily available to the public.
Reserving Materials
Staff members will follow the same procedures as the public to reserve library materials.
Library materials will not be made available to staff before they are made available to the public.
Fines and Fees
As a benefit of employment, library staff are exempt from paying library fines and fees, except in cases of lost or damaged materials. In such cases, staff will pay repair/ replacement costs according to the same fee schedule as the public.
