Event Details
The Point in Time count is a count of people in our communities who are currently experiencing homelessness. The PIT Count happens every year, in every state, and usually sometime in the last week of January. Anyone who currently meets the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) definition of homeless gets counted and included in the PIT.
Volunteers go to different areas and ask to interview anyone who is currently homeless, filling out a survey for each person they count. Information from PIT Counts is used to create different services and programs that can help them.
The Auburn Public Library will be participating in 2025's PIT count as a survey site. Come join APL, along with community members from Bates College, to pick up warming kits and participate in the annual Point in Time count to end homelessness. There will be sandwiches and other food items available, along with both hot and cold beverages.
This event will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room from 5-7 p.m. If arriving after 6 p.m., please enter via the Spring Street entrance.
